In Loving Memory
Jo “JoJo” Annette Seljan, a California native and beloved daughter, sister, friend, aunt, mother, and grandmother, passed away on January 20, 2025, in Reno, Nevada, at the age of 67. Born on January 14, 1958, in Los Angeles, California, JoJo was the cherished daughter of Joseph and Rosalee Seljan.
Throughout her younger life, JoJo lived in many beautiful places including Southern California, Hawaii, Japan, and Florida. In 1980, she married Rick Murdock and moved to June Lake, California, where they began to build their family in a close-knit community. Daughters Jillian and Katie were born in 1982 and 1984. In 1990, the family relocated to Reno, Nevada, where she lived until her passing. JoJo and Rick divorced in 2001.
JoJo had a career in the banking and gaming industries, ultimately finding her niche in bookkeeping and accounting. However, her true passions extended far beyond her professional life. A lifelong artist, JoJo expressed her creativity through multiple mediums, including playing the guitar, painting, sewing, woodworking, scrapbooking, crafting, cooking and gardening. Her artistic spirit brought joy not only to herself but also to those who were fortunate enough to experience her talents.
JoJo is survived by her loving siblings, Jenny Reynolds, Joseph Seljan, and Cindy LeVine, as well as her girls, Jillian Kent and Katie Green, many nieces and nephews, and the six grandchildren that brought her so much joy: Leeya, Danell, Hugo, Jace, Cora and Esme. She leaves behind a legacy of creativity and love that will continue to inspire her family and friends.
A celebration of JoJo’s life will be held on Thursday, March 20, at 11 a.m. at Grace Church on Robb Drive, with a reception to immediately follow where loved ones can share memories over hors d’oeuvres and refreshments at the Lakeview Suite (room 1747) at the Peppermill Resort.
Family and friends are invited to join in honoring her memory and the impact she made on all of our lives. In the hearts of those who knew and loved her, JoJo will forever remain a vibrant and cherished presence.
